Cowell Loves Burnin Bridges

That would be Tony Cowell, Simon’s brother. On episode #47 of his Cowell Factor blog, he singles out “Burnin’ Bridges“:

“And someone else whom I’m desperate to hear more from is Nashville’s Michael Estok. I’m soooo impressed with your song Burning Bridges. Brilliant vocal – love this song. Very, very impressive.”

Two local Nashville shows!

October 23, 2009  |  Uncategorized  |  No Comments

Many  Nashvillians have been asking when we are playing.  Unfortunately we answer “all the time, just far far away”.   I’m happy to announce two shows that you (-insert name here-) can come to.  Even better, both shows are free.  Best of all, both places have amazing tasty treats.

Wednesday November 4th: The Lounge at Mad Donnas

is host to Nashville’s hottest new writer’s night – where we focus on songs and atmosphere! In our intimate concert environment, we showcase the most talented writers from country to indie, while serving food and drinks from our equally fantastic and diverse menu. We provide the best of what other venues have to offer – all under the same roof!

Friday November 13th : Red Tree Coffee

Yet again another great night. We are sharing the night with an awesome Nashville artist named Christopher Joel.  Our buds at Red Tree Coffee have created an amazing enviroment to see live music in.

It saddens me to say this. In remembrance of the Rae Coulter (AKA “Gammy”) We will be canceling our Mobile, AL show date. Gammy is Emily’s grandma. We have been so blessed to share such wonderful times with such a loving and talented person. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Live at Capalano’s in Mcminnville Tennessee.  Little did we know the same night we were competing with Bonaroo 2009.  Springsteen was on stage about 10 miles down the road.  Bruce won.

Hitt Music Group, Why Myspace stinks

June 18, 2009  |  Uncategorized  |  No Comments

What has Myspace come to? I was checking my messages today and here is what I came across. (Note I do not even have a song called “Ache Beautiful”)

Hey Michael,

I’m really digging Ache Beautiful. My name’s Deirdre Barlow, I’m a scout with Hitt Music here in L.A. Anyway, I came across your page and I think you have a sound that may be pretty marketable.

I don’t know what your plans are for your music, but there’s definitely some potential. Do you have any more material?? Instrumentals??

Good indie artists are becoming really hard to come by. Tell you what, give me a call at the office or just shoot me your number so we can get in touch. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!!

p.s. I’ll send you some links in a second.

Regards,

Deirdre Barlow

My Response:

Hello,

Although I do respect your attempt to connect with me, I don’t currently have any of my music up here on Myspace because I am in the middle of the pre-production process right now. Secondly, I do not have a song called “Ache Beautiful”. Lastly, you don’t have to tell me if my material is marketable or not. You’ve never even taken the time to listen to it. Why would I ever want to work with a company who sees just “some” potential in my music anyways? A company should love the acts it works with.

I also know a plethora of “Independent Artists” who are amazingly talented. To say they are hard to come by shows me you need to do some more research and get out and hear some music. (or visit Nashville).

Here is my suggestion. If you would like people to take your company seriously, use a different method of trying to reel people in. Better yet, don’t waste people’s time or your own for that matter. Its things like this that are wrong with Myspace, and the music industry.

Best,

Michael
